Bio

Mark Bond is a Senior Lecturer in Cinematography at Bournemouth University, teaching film and television production across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the Faculty of Media and Communication. He is the programme leader for MA Cinematography for Film and Television and is the BU Link Tutor for Wiltshire College Salisbury.

Mark joined BU in 2010 after a successful career as a freelance Director of Photography with over 20 years industry experience working for all of the major UK broadcasters.  He has worked in a variety of genres including documentary, factual, comedy, drama, music, commercials and stop frame animation. He has filmed a number of award-winning shows, travelled around the world to pursue his career and photographed six children’s books.

Mark is conducting research for a practiced-based PhD: Examining the Impact of Emerging Digital Technology on the Craft of the Cinematographer. His practice-based research investigates the evolving role of the cinematographer; to understand how the cinematographer’s craft skills, professional knowledge and creativity been influenced by changes in technology.

Mark continues his professional practice as a cinematographer and combines his practice, research and teaching, working with postgraduate students and external stakeholders.
